‘The music is spirited, fresh and playful. Yet absolutely serious’
Joacim Nyberg, Sound Of Music
Casey Moir band is one of the hippest new modern free jazz and improvisation bands on the Swedish scene right now. They combine narrative lyrics with wild improvisations, vivid soundscapes and an intuitive and explosive group interaction. They draw on influences from jazz and free jazz while intricately weaving together composition with free improvisation.
With the intuitive Naoko Sakata on the keys, the dynamic and solid Alfred Lorinius on the bass, the unrivalled Martin Öhman on the drums and the raw controlled voice of Casey Moir, they are proud to present RABBIT HOLE.
Recorded at Studio Epidemin in Gothenburg, their tunes are works that move and grow, changing yet consistent, melodic yet jagged. They are a mix of precise and open composition that organically flows in and out of free improvisation.
The Swedish reviewers have already had their say and the verdict is in:
'Casey Moir Band is an enormously coherent and fiery quartet that allows the 8 compositions on Rabbit Hole to breathe freely and independently of each other in a way which captures the strong feeling for jazz and melody that permeates the musical language, and that captivates and stimulates in a way that voice improvisation rarely or never does.' 4 out of 5, Peter Bornemar, Dig Jazz, 2015
’With improvisation as its beacon, they play explosive and inquisitive jazz …. Scintillating ensemble interaction’. 4 out of 5, The Gothenburg Post, PM Jönsson
'As much as they can explode together in energy, they can wait in intuitively timed pauses and moments of stillness.’ Alexandra Ullsten, LIRA Music Magazine
